Creating a Promising Future for Montgomery County Public Schools Students
Montgomery County has established a tradition of excellence for its quality educational system that has lasted for decades. Few places in the nation value education more than in Montgomery County. Our residents demand quality public education and the leadership that continually promote excellence in our schools.
The resources required to fund all elements necessary for a quality education have been shrinking due to school budget reductions, state and federal cutbacks, and the rapidly growing needs of an increasing student population. While funds available from local, state, and federal sources provide for stable and contemporary curriculums and instructional programs, these funds are inadequate to make up the increasing financial shortage to allow students to reach their highest potential.

2012-2013 Funded Grants Announced
The Educational Foundation deadline for submitting Small Grant and Extended Technology Hours Grant applications for the 2012-2013 school year has passed. Robotics Club
Ms. Gretchen Ndousss-Fetter, ESOL teacher, Whetstone ES was awarded a Small Grant for her program entitled, The Robotics Club. Students collaboratively engaged in activities that allowed them the opportunity to become familiar with robotics and computer science, using LEGO MINDSTORMS® robots. The STEM-based project encouraged teamwork, problem solving and critical thinking.

County Council Recognizes Educational Foundation
The Montgomery County Council issued an official Proclamation designating October 13 as MCPS Educational Foundation Day.

2013 5th Grade CHALLENGE
Plan to be a part of the fun on April 18, 24, and 29th, when local luminaries test their recollection of fifth grade facts as they play along with MCPS fifth graders. Questions are based on the MCPS elementary curriculum 2.0 and correct answers win grants for MCPS schools.

Computer Access for Everyone
The Montgomery County Public Schools Educational Foundation is grateful to AT&T and Senator Robert J. Garagiola for the support given to enhance two technology related programs selected by the Foundation’s Grants Committee led by Mrs. Pennie Abramson.
One of the grant awards was for a grant program entitled Computer Access for Everyone (C.A.F.E.).
