How to Apply for Foundation Scholarships
Student
- Please complete the Scholarship Application Form (can be completed online in interactive PDF) then print. You may also download or direct your teacher or counselor to the evaluation form (also in interactive PDF format).
- Please sign the MCPS Educational Foundation application form.
- Please ask high school registrar for her/his current unofficial high school transcript, inclusive of first semester senior year grades.
- Please submit a one-page typewritten financial needs essay, including any extenuating circumstances, and why your transcript may not reflect your true ability. The application provides some helpful questions for you to consider when writing your essay.
- Please complete the Montgomery College Admission Application form. (Montgomery College students are given preference for legislative scholarships.)
Parent
- Please review and sign the application form if student is less than 18-years-old.
- Parent and student must complete the Federal Student Aid Form (FAFSA) and print out the completed form.
School counselor or selected teacher
- School counselor or teacher of student's choosing must complete the evaluation form, sign, then return to student in a sealed envelope. (This can be completed online then printed and signed.)
Student checks that application packet includes all of these:
- Scholarship Application Form completed and signed by student and parent.
- Unofficial High School Transcript
- One recommendation from a teacher or school counselor
- Financial Needs Essay
- Copy of Federal Student Aid Form (FAFSA)
Student submits application by April 1, 2010
RETURN THE COMPLETED APPLICATION PACKET AND ALL ITEMS ON THE APPLICATION CHECKLIST. ALL INFORMATION MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE APRIL 1, 2010 DEADLINE.
