Join Superintendent Jack R. Smith, and his fellow Directors of the Montgomery County Public Schools Educational Foundation for the fourth annual Breakfast with the Superintendent event. The event will focus on STEM careers in academia and industry.
STEM professionals are asked to spend time discussing their work with MCPS juniors and seniors interested in STEM disciplines and careers while having breakfast. Joining the confab is David M. Velazquez, president & CEO, Pepco Holdings, An Exelon Company (PH).
Mr. Velazquez will talk about his personal pathway to becoming a leader of a major, multi-state utility corporation focused on service reliability, customer satisfaction, financial management, and regulatory and external affairs.

About David Velazquez:
David Velazquez has been President and CEO of Pepco Holdings since 2016 and is responsible for leadership of the company's overall performance. Velazquez previously served as executive vice president and leader of the power delivery business for Pepco Holdings, Inc. (PHI). He managed over 95 percent of the business and employee base, and was responsible for all utility operations in three states and the District of Columbia including customer care, asset management, operations, smart grid activities, support services and labor relations. Velazquez was also responsible for the development of and now leads the successful enterprise-wide strategic vision to improve reliability and customer service for Pepco Holdings.

Description of the Student Participants
Seniors who have passed an upper level STEM Class, with a grade of B or better, comprise the student participants. The following advanced classes were identified as the qualifying courses: AP Classes in: Anatomy and Physiology, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physics, Psychology, and Social Studies; Pre-Calculus, Calculus, An International Baccalaureate Class in any topic, participation in an MCPS/College dual enrollment program
