Linkages to Learning Summer Camp

Special COVID-19 Pandemic Response

The Linkages to Learning Summer Camp campaign gives children the opportunity to explore their individual interests and escape the adverse effects of living in poverty by having them experience new activities and environments that various camps have to offer. As a result of the COVID-19 health crisis, the opportunity for students to attend camp this summer cannot be offered.

Many parents in the Montgomery County community also are struggling to provide for their children, because of disruptions to their employment. Students and their families are in need of food, toiletries, diapers, personal hygiene items, household cleaning products, rental assistance, etc. In response to these needs, Linkages to Learning (LTL), an MCPS partnership with the Montgomery County Department of Health & Human Services and a coalition of local private and public nonprofit agencies, is asking for support to help LTL families meet their basic needs during this difficult time.

Merrill Lynch/Bank of America

Employees of Merrill Lynch/Bank of America are conducting a special workplace campaign from June 15 through June 30, 2020. All contributions from Merrill Lynch/Bank of America employees will be used to provide necessary assistance to these families during the COVID-19 pandemic.  This generous partnership with this business in the Montgomery County community is enabling us to assist our most vulnerable families during this crisis.

About Linkages to Learning

Linkages to Learning (LTL) is a community school partnership between the Montgomery County Department of Health & Human Services, Montgomery County Public Schools and non-profit service providers with an integrated focus on health, social services, community engagement and leadership to support student learning, strong families and healthy communities. LTL provides needed services to students and family members in 29 elementary and middle school communities with high rates of poverty. Read more »»

To offer the summer camp experience to LTL students, LTL partners with area private and public camp providers (such as Calleva, Camp Sonshine, Camp Sandy Cove, Montgomery County Department of Recreation, and others). These outside providers agree to offer partial scholarships or reduced rates to LTL that are then matched by private donations to make camp experiences possible for more children. LTL also directly provides on-site summer camps at some LTL schools to further maximize the reach of funds collected.

LTL continuously accepts financial support (including participation in company matching programs), to sponsor a summer camp experience for Montgomery County school-age children. A donation of $300 sponsors a child to attend one week of camp. Summer camp is a wonderful way to open the doors to new possibilities for children in need in Montgomery County.  Donate today!
