Congratulations 2024 MCPSEF Scholars!

MCPS Educational Foundation's (MCPSEF) primary goal for its student scholarships and awards is to fund students who are passionate about pursuing educational goals, and face opportunity gaps in achieving those goals.

This year, MCPSEF awarded 18 scholarships and awards, totaling over $2.3M, to more than 225 MCPS seniors representing every high school in MCPS from the class of 2024.

These awards included the prestigious Rales-O’Neill Scholarships, which provide funds to high-achieving, community service-dedicated MCPS graduating seniors with financial need. This scholarship honors the legacies of Ruth and Norman Rales, whose generosity and spirit of giving lives on through the Rales Foundation, and former Board of Education member Patricia Baier O'Neill, who held a lifelong commitment to public service and children of Montgomery County.

2024 is the inaugural awarding of the Gilles Driesman Scholarship, for students in construction management and in honor of builder and small-business owner, Gilles Driesman; the Cesar Pie Cyber Defender Scholarship, for students interested in cybersecurity and in honor of CSIOS Corporation’s chairman, Cesar Pie, a veteran, renowned cyber strategist and influential Hispanic leader in cybersecurity; and the Lamphier-Castelli New American Dream for the Future Scholarship, for newcomer students and created by MCPS school media specialist, Andrea Lamphier, to recognize their incredible courage and persistence.
